Dear siblings in Christ,
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven...”
For nearly 60 years, Christ the King has been the church home for a congregation dedicated to sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ and caring for all God’s people. This congregation has grown from a mission start to a worship community that has not only ministered to its membership but supported many community organizations in that process. The hard work and accomplishments over the years is certainly to be celebrated.
As Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, everything has its time. So, too, does Christ the King.
At a special called meeting of the congregation yesterday (April 11), those voting members in attendance approved the Executive Committee and Church Council recommendations to end the mission of Christ the King and proceed to Holy Closure. To that end, the Executive Committee will continue to work with our synod to complete the work and documentation necessary to officially close.
There are two special worship services scheduled for May 2 and May 9 so that our extended church family may come and worship with us in-person. Bishop Erik Gronberg will preside during our final worship on May 16.
There is much work yet to do and much more information yet to come. We will continue to post new information via email, website (ctklutheranfw.org), and Facebook as appropriate and US Mail as needed.
